Floyd Scholarship Application

Thank you for your interest in the Floyd Scholarship. The Floyd Scholarship provides a way to invest in poised and ready to be leaders in our community and our nation.

Please fill out the form below after reviewing the criteria for the scholarship. The Floyd Scholarship is a four-year, full-tuition scholarship awarded to one student each year based on two community recommendations and a written essay.

Criteria for Applying:

To be considered for The Floyd Scholarship, you must:

  • Demonstrated leadership in student programming at North Central University (for returning-student applicants).Demonstrated leadership roles in their high school career, service-based work within their community.
  • Apply and submit required documents: 
    • Application
    • Essay
    • Two recommendations from community members
  • Must be admissible to NCU based on our academic and community lifestyle criteria for an undergraduate degree program as a traditional on-campus student.
  • Must have a FAFSA submitted to determine financial need

*Scholarship renewable for up to four years. Students must live on-campus. The deadline for applying for the 2025–26 scholarship is May 5, 2025. Finalists may be asked to submit a short, unedited video for selection. The scholarship recipient will be selected by June 7, 2025.

Next Steps

Step 2: Recommendation Forms-

Please provide this link to the two community references you listed above and have them complete it by May 5th.

Step 3: Write and Submit Your Essay

Your essay must be 500 words or more but no more than 2000 words. Showcases your dedication as a service-oriented leader committed to enhancing both your college campus and local community. Please respond to the following in your scholarship essay:

  1. Please explain how your life experiences have shaped your unique perspectives and strengths, and how you plan to contribute these qualities to the North Central community. Reflect on how these experiences will aid in your personal development and deepen your dedication to serving others.
  2. Share an experience where you engaged with someone from a different background. What perspective did you gain or challenges did you encounter during this interaction?
  3. In what ways have you observed the value of kingdom unity in your life through the lens of your faith? How has this understanding influenced your outlook?
  4. Tell us about a specific instance when you played a role in fostering unity within a challenging situation. What steps did you take, and what were the outcomes?
